My Soulcat

For those of you who have more than one pet, do you have a "favorite"? I must confess that I do. Even though I dearly love all four of my kitties, Anna and I have a special bond. She is a real "momma's girl" and is pretty shy around anyone else, even my parents and my brother. I try to give her lots of attention since she's a one-person cat. Anna is also the "peacemaker" of my cats, and is the only one who gets along with the other three. My other three have various issues amongst themselves. I can't imagine my life without my cats, especially Anna.

Introduction

Hi, my name is Laurie and I'm the proud momma of four amazing cats: Anna, Bella, Chloe and Rosie. They are all so different. Anna is a Siamese mix, Bella is a ginger tabby, Chloe is a tuxedo and Rosie is pure white.

All four are rescues from animal shelters.

Chloe was my first cat. She's going on four years old now. I remember that she purred nonstop for two days straight after I brought her home. Chloe loves to go outside in the yard, even in cold weather. I didn't plan on having an indoor/outdoor cat (wanted indoor only) but it just worked out that way. Chloe is a sweet, gentle cat despite being "picked on" by her older fursisters Bella and Rosie.

Bella was my second addition. I was working at a local shelter at the time, and Bella came in. The first time I saw her she'd gotten her paper ID collar around her mouth...I walked into the cat room that morning, saw those huge eyes and knew something was wrong. A closer look revealed the collar, which of course I immediately cut off. I cuddled her for a few minutes to comfort her, and we bonded after that. A few days later I adopted her. She is a high-maintenance cat, but sweet and adorable...a big cat in a little body. Tiny but mighty.

Anna was my third. She was sitting so sweetly in the bed in her cage at the shelter, and I was immediately drawn to her. All she wanted was petting, head rubs and chin scratches. Went back a couple of days later and she was still there. I couldn't leave her there, so the rest is history. Anna is my soul cat; we have such a wonderful bond. She is timid around strangers, but devoted to me. She also adores her fursisters and is the only one who gets along with all of them. I'm so glad I adopted her!

Lastly is Rosie. I drove eight hours from Tennessee to St. Louis, MO to get her. Someone else had adopted her, but they backed out at the last minute; she had already been transported from GA to St. Louis. I had assisted in this transport and was highly disappointed that the adoption had fallen through. So, that weekend I got in the car and drove up there to pick her up from the lady who had been fostering her. Rosie is our comedienne, our naughty girl. She's always looking for trouble and usually finds it!
